This past Saturday, the California Coastal Commission, joined by hundreds of local chapters across the state, came together to clean and restore our waterways. Representing Condor with pride, Tucker and Cameron — alongside their significant others — rolled up their sleeves in special Condor Volunteer T-shirts to be part of this meaningful effort. Their teamwork and community spirit reflect what it means to be Condors, making a difference together.
Tucker said about his day: “Taylor and I were tasked with removing stinkwort from along the banks of the American River at Ancil Hoffman Park. Stinkwort is an invasive species that has a very pungent “medicinal” odor and this very sticky oil that gets onto and stains everything! We had a great Saturday morning though volunteering and can’t wait to sign up again! We were all asked to try to keep track of the number of invasive plants removed during the day so that these numbers could be reported to Sacramento County, but Taylor and I lost track sometime around plants #2,000 or so.”
Of his Day, Cameron said: “There wasn’t a lot of people near the beach we cleaned up but in total we all picked up around 900 pounds of trash from the 12 mile stretch of beaches, campgrounds, trails, and roads along the Briceburg area of Merced River. The bags in the photo is just the small stuff people found. There we pallets and other huge pieces of trash people filled their trucks with! Also we observed some of the wildlife we were helping”
